![]() Let's make BOOOTIFUL pumpkins together! Date: October 25, 2014 Time: 10:30 am Location: To be announced Who is ready for some spooky underwater pumpkin carving? Last year we got snowed out, and there was a lot of disappointment to go around. So far the weather is showing sunny and cool for our pumpkin carving contest. What do I need? 1. A PUMPKIN! 2. Childproof cutting utensils (lol, just kidding, but seriously, be careful)! 3. Flashlight 4. All your scuba gear 5. Underwater camera (optional, but strongly recommended) Cut out your lid and scoop all the guts out before you arrive. Tips - Consider a little weight inside your pumpkin to keep it negatively buoyant; you do not want that slippery little sucker to float away on you. - When you are scooping out the guts, try scraping away some of the pumpkin walls - especially in the area you plan to create your art; the thinner the walls, the easier it will be cut your design underwater. Safety -For gosh sakes, be careful! It's all fun and games until someone pokes an eye out! -Do not pierce or cut in any direction that could harm you or your dive buddy if you should slip. -Your dive knife may not be the best tool - try out some smaller, serated paring knives as you prepare your pumpkin; as long as you can grip it easily with your gloves on (with a sheath is even better).
