You may be wondering why there is so much fuss about air. Why do you care? Well, if you have been bitten by the scuba bug, and can't get enough of the peace and beauty beneath the waves, you care!
The greatest benefit to diving with enriched air nitrox, is that it reduces your exposure to nitrogen. Our safety stops, and other safety procedures in diving are often geared towards reducing our risk of decompression sickness, when an excess of nitrogen has been compressed into the soft tissues of our body. Here are some advantages:
1. It extends your allowable bottom time (YAY!).
2. It reduces any need to "push" (near) the air no decompression limits.
3. It reduces your overall nitrogen load on multiple dives.
The higher the oxygen content of the EANx blend, the less nitrogen you breathe. All good things!
What will I Learn on the PADI Enriched Air course?
You will learn why diving with air that has higher oxygen and lower nitrogen content gives you more bottom time, along with enriched air equipment considerations. During a practical session, you will:
The PADI enriched air course is one of the most popular courses in the program, because scuba diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no decompression time, especially on repetitive scuba dives. If staying down longer and getting back in the water sooner sounds appealing, then don’t hesitate to become an enriched air diver.
