Maybe you really love helping people. Or maybe you find unbridled joy in witnessing the birth of a new passion sparking within the beating heart of a novice diver. Or maybe for you, observing the big smiles on a student’s face, knowing that YOU were a big part of making that happen puts a big smile on YOUR face. OR still yet, perhaps it is all the laughter and shared camaraderie that is part of the dive community we work and play in that sucks you in. Heck, maybe you simply just want to be called Master. But whatever motivates you, there is one thing that is common to all divemasters: they just wanna scuba dive! And dive… and dive… and dive!! Here's to those awesome divemasters who make our world a better place; in AND out of the water. Divemaster Rob (left) has visited almost every EPIC dive site there is in every type of weather to assist our instructors and students; whether they needed just a little encouragement, equipment tweaking, technique advice, Rob was there. PADI Divemaster is the first PADI professional level. You will work very closely with a PADI Instructor, and fine-tune your dive skills, like perfecting the effortless hover, and refine your rescue skills so you anticipate common problems and solve them with ease. You’ll gain dive knowledge, management and supervision abilities so you become a role model to divers everywhere. As a PADI Divemaster, you will supervise scuba events and activities, and be involved with PADI scuba training, working with students in the classroom, in the pool, and in the open water, where they will learn and be reassured by your experience and knowledge. PADI Rescue Divers (or equivalent certification) who are at least 18 years of age may enroll in the PADI Divemaster program. In addition to being a PADI Rescue Diver, you also need: * Emergency First Response primary and secondary care (CPR and First Aid), taken within the last 24 months. * A medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months. * 40 logged dives to begin the course, and 60 dives to be achieved upon completion to earn certification. What will you learn? The PADI Divemaster course teaches you to be a leader and take charge of dive activities. Through knowledge development sessions, water skills exercises and workshops, and hands-on practical assessment, you develop the skills to organize and direct a variety of scuba diving activities. Topics and practical workshops include:
Adventure Sports Newmarket offers the PADI Deep Diver and Search and Recovery Diver specialty diver courses along with your divemaster training to help you meet all requirements and to broaden your abilities. What scuba gear will you use? As a dive professional, you’ll want to have all your basic scuba equipment, including a dive computer, a dive knife, and at least two surface signaling devices. During practical skills exercises, like underwater mapping and search and recovery, you’ll use a compass, floats, marker buoys, lift bags and slates. Your Adventure Sports Newmarket PADI Instructor may suggest additional gear that will be useful throughout your diving career. What our Divemasters say: Divemaster Brian: "I love it [being a Divemaster] because I like to see the look on the students' faces when they finally get the skill right, knowing "Hey I did it. I can do this!"." Brian has been diving since 2005, and achieved his PADI Divemaster in 2013. What our Aspiring Divemasters say: PADI Rescue Diver TJ (working towards his PADI Divemaster) "I'd like to be a PADI Divemaster to help train future divers as best as I can; this will help me better myself as a scuba diver and a leader. Would LOVE leading dives and assisting with student training! Call us at 905-898-5338
