Well, Jody and the crew made it safely back from the Bahamas and Blackbeard’s Cruise adventure on December 29, waterlogged and content, with many awesome memories. Thank-you Mike, Jim, Brian, Kevin, Geoff, Kyle, Aleks, and Sam for making our first Blackbeard’s adventure a happy success, and Ken, you should know that you were sorely missed; somehow I think things just weren’t the same without you. A big thank-you goes out to the crew of the Avalon for making the week extraordinary and for just being a fun bunch of people. Ray the Captain, Chauncy the First Mate, Kristy the Divemaster, and of course, Charlie the cook (for the amazing food that was enjoyed all week) made it a week to remember for all. The first afternoon in Nassau found the gang looking for "hidden treasure"; Kevin, an avid Geocaching enthusiast, had the coordinates on his GPS for a hidden cache close by and they went in search of it. Their search took them up hill, to a fence, almost over a cliff, down a hill, and finally, finally, the cache was found! It turned out to be Kevin’s 200th find; Congratulations on number 200 Kevin! On to the boat – The Avalon. It was a beautiful vessel. The shark diving turned out to be pretty incredible, and Jody was even able to snag a small shark tooth after the feeding; small but fresh. Mike had a chance to do some spearfishing, and had two lionfish on his spear at one point, but while he dreamed of the fish fry they would enjoy that night, a Caribbean reef shark swam up and neatly stole his dinner. Easy come, easy go. See the clip of the theft below.
