It's HERE! Christmas came early! I spent two and half hours with Dean and Paula checking out my new Nauticam housing for my Sony A6000 mirrorless camera - just learning the ropes. Wow, this outfit is pretty freaking amazing (it should be); I can't get over it! Then I started to feel a little overwhelmed; this is a pretty huge investment - I can't blow it. Paula's wise advice? If they are in the water waiting for you, and you aren't 100% sure that your camera is ready to go, leave it behind - it will only take one small, stupid oversight to destroy your investment in 5 seconds flat (5 second rule applies here, right?)! So I make a checklist. There will be all the usual stuff: batteries charged? SD card in the camera? Lights ready to go? But then there are some extra considerations: double check the O-ring on the housing AND the port (where the lens fits). Flying with this housing means being aware of the air pressure inside the housing. When we are ascending, the air inside will expand and some will escape via the O-ring. When we descend again, the air will compress further, and cause a vacuum seal inside the housing. Bad. Paula recommends removing the O-rings while travelling and replacing them when I arrive, but somehow that makes me nervous. What if I forget? Maybe I can just travel with my housing left ajar? Decisions, decisions.
But is this good enough? The pumpkin carving event is this weekend, and if I'm not too much of a sucky baby, I will put on the 7 mil and get with this camera. I want to try this baby out! Divers, I may ask you if I can take some pics. I may ask a lot. It is OK to say no, because I am on a mission and you may not have time for this. Seriously, how freaking insane is THIS??? A MOISTURE ALARM? BE STILL MY BEATING HEART! This is cooler than the coolest thing I've seen so far!!! OH. MY. Freaking. GOSH! Packing the Bag!
Oh my gosh! How do I do this? I'm not even sure where to start. I'll bet I change the layout a hundred times before I like it. Here is hoping I get some practice in during the pumpkin carving contest this weekend. Jody is still waiting on the town for confirmation. HELLO? There is an election coming up, right? Impress us and return our calls! Jeepers! But I digress. If Shanty Bay falls through (we will tell you about it on Saturday), then our back-up is Jackson's Point. Confirming SOON! Hope to see you this weekend! Live, Laugh, Dive and SHOOT!

Bring spare SD cards! I just had one fail on me underwater (just the card), leaving me with 32mb for the dive... Looking forward to seeing some results Jill.
